    I know the pain…have lost many fish when that net is fully extended. Can’t seem to find a suitable upgrade though.

  • @MrT398
    @MrT398 21 годину тому

    That was a big fish. I’d recommend you customize your net and rather than using a standard net, replace the end of the pole with a big circle drop net. This way it’s a bottom up net job, rather than a side net job. For those super big net shy fish often I find it’s easier to bring the fish over the net than the net to the fish. It may be worth experimenting with this. A new attachment would allow you to have the agility I think you’re looking for with a collapsible pole, with a better angle for netting from the pier.

    Great upload 👍 Question on the lynx - when it comes to positioning for bottom fish, how does it do with wind and current? Does it get swept easily as lets say an Outback or Revo where its sitting more in the water vs on top, like the Lynx?

    • @CookingandFishing
      @CookingandFishing День тому

      Maybe a touch more susceptible to surface current, about the same re wind but either way I'm almost always on the pedals while fishing - since the Lynx is a lot lighter it's far less effort to pedal in place. Also the turning radius is night and day compared to the outback. The Lynx almost turns on the rudder itself, not quite as tight as the itrek but almost.

    This upload finally made me pull the trigger on this. As a fellow yak fisherman, & one who used to do the same garden sprayer method, this is gold. Being able to thoroughly rinse the yak at the launch before loading is worth it alone.

    I love your videos and not denying the huge impact you've made with your landbased tactics for fluke, but hear me out and give this some thought. I been a single jig jerk shad fisherman since before gulp was even available ( fin-s with manually applied scent). Influencing fisherman to use that technique is terrific. Very effective, easy to learn and most importantly, easy on the fish. These hardbaits with multi small trebles,in the hands of newb fisherman will lead to alot of dead shorts. At least give a tutorial on hook removal and tools required while using these techniques.

    • @CookingandFishing
      @CookingandFishing 3 дні тому

      I address this in the full video - you would think that but the fact is out of the hundreds of fluke I've caught on small hardbaits I've lost ZERO to treble hooks. I deep hook far more fish on jigheads + gulp - the reason is trebles catch on the way in, and they almost always try to eject the bait as soon as they bite unlike gulp/soft plastics and the result is at worst a few flesh wounds outside the jaw but never had a bleeder. It's counterintuitive but those are my results after a couple of seasons. Newbs will gut hook far more shorts "letting them eat" or not detecting a bite in time than they will chucking and winding a crankbait and getting tagged by a short. It won't even be close. Now how they treat the fish afterwards is a different story, but I'm satisfied that release mortality is actually less of an issue with trebled hardbaits vs gulp.

      Lol to each their own but Shin wasn't belligerent or being a dickhead on purpose - he simply didn't know how to react in that situation. Ignorance is no crime, and now he knows how to cast up current and how to fish a single jig on a populated pier - win/win in my book.

      8-9ft on light braid + leader, probably 6-7 on 10lb fluoro

    This is a great review video packed with loads of genuine thoughts and some good fishing action, too. I find that a lot of UA-camrs just parrot ideas from other videos, often full of bias and irrelevance. This was a refreshing exception to watch. 👏👏👏

    Awww man great content you captured here … I’ve been fishing seriously for about 2 seasons now and this season I’ve caught every fish I wanted to target and still learning lots … my bite and hook ratio has significantly increased

      Excellent!! Landing ratio is all about fundamentals and mechanics - I have an entire video dedicated to hookset mechanics on the channel
